40 + Dead in London

I don't have anything profound to say about this. But if you would like to express your condolences to the British on this tragedy, click here.

Maybe it was al-Qaeda, maybe it was some stupid Palestinian group.....maybe the IRA. I'm sure some group of losers is going to claim responsibility eventually. You know what? I don't give a rat's ass how they attempt to justify this. This was cold-blooded murder of innocent people. Period. Case closed. End of discussion.

I don't know if anyone in England reads this, but if they do.....I am truly sorry that this happened, and I hope the creatures responsible for this (I refuse to honor them by calling them "people") are swiftly apprehended and punished. If you know anyone personally who was injured or killed, you have my deepest sympathy, and my heart goes out to you.

    What is your kitten doing?
Are there funny ways to depict "cold-blooded murder of innocent people"?

I like to think that kitten is just waiting for that damn Siamese up the street to attempt to steal her Meow Mix one more time....but maybe I'm reading way too much into a photoshopped image.

And, no, I don't think there are funny ways to depict something as heartless and unbelievably cruel as piloting a plane with a little three year old girl aboard into a Manhattan skyscraper, blowing up a tube station full of people trying to get to work to support their families, or even the death of 25 percent of Cambodians under Pol Pot for "crimes" such as being literate, wearing glasses or just being an opinionated little twerp like me. Some things just aren't funny.

It isn't necessary or desirable to kill innocents to bring attention to your "cause". As an example, I give you the Dalai Lama and the Tibetans. They've taken it in the neck far more than the Palestinians or the IRA. Yet, even in the face of unbelievable provocation from the Chinese, they still do not blow shit up in Beijing or Hong Kong to make a point. They make their point peacefully and strongly, in the mode of a Gandhi or MLK. The kind of moral authority that they have is something terrorists do not have and do not deserve.

I hope all who glory in the shedding of innocent blood have a special place in hell waiting for them. (Not very Christian, I know....so shoot me. Yes, even via kitten with a sniper rifle.)

I agree, unless your "cause" is to bring freedom and democracy to non-first world countries. One man's terrorist is another man's patriot. War is war, it becomes exponentially unpalatable when it isn't just 'little brown people' being killed.
Does it really matter whether you use a commercial airliner or a 500 lb 'smart bomb'. Are they both not "heartless" and "unbelievably cruel". Maybe there are good ways and bad ways to kill innocents, I do not know.
I teach 20th Century American History in the "Ivy League". If every american were aware of what their government has 'done' to the rest of the world over the last 60 years(both covert and overt),so that they may have cheap and plentiful coffee, bananas and oil, they would be able to answer the question: "why do THEY hate US so?"
On Sept. 11, 2001, within hours of the events, a Chilean friend was convinced it was Chilean folks who were responsible. It was on Sept. 11, 1973, that a CIA coup put Pinochet in power in Chile. Many innocents died. Revenge after 18 years?, it was plausable!

Just when I was hoping not to see tired cliches that were pathetic back in the 60's, they get posted here on my blog.

And just in case we missed the point that he thinks very real suffering at the hands of psychotics like Chomsky's hero, Pol Pot, is a joke, he uses a very tasteless nick.

Bye, LC, and find somewhere else to spout that garbage. Don't do it here today....not when some very real hearts are breaking in England because of inexplicable savagery.

If there is a God, may he have mercy on your tiny, icy soul, and the victims of all the ideologies you support yet are too self-indulgent to live under 24/7.

I did not mean to offend.
    I do not like Chomsky.
Real hearts break everywhere when there is savagery.
I am a little brown person from Cambodia.(with legs)
I did not like Pol Pot.
I only find it interesting that the death of white people is to be mourned more so than that of brown people.
I support America, no other ideologies. I am a pragmatist.
"I calls 'em as I sees 'em"
Like I said, If you knew what our Government has done for us, you would be very upset. You would understand why "they hate us so"

"You want another target, a military target? Then name the system."

"We all want to change the world. But when you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao.
You ain't gonna make it with anyone anyhow."

The trains in London are up and running, and the best quote I've heard on this particular topic:

"I've been blown up by a better class of bastard than this."

Gads, why are people so blind as to compare the deliberate massacre of civilians to pinpoint military action-- even bringing up the "smart bomb" and then refusing to acknowledge that it was developed specifically to avoid the needless killing of civilians in cultures where the oh-so-very-brave "fighting men" hide their artillery pieces on hospital roofs and their arsenals in kindergartens. Well, they would if they actually had kindergartens. Wouldn't want their own "little brown people" to learn to read and figure out what's really going on. Sheesh. I know very well what my government has done, and I also know what it has not done. I suggest Mr. Ivy League and a whole lot of Chileans (for starters) should learn for themselves.

Maybe they can even learn what laws and other measures are in place to prevent such things as the CIA-backed coups of the 70's from ever happening again. If people would stop living in the past and try to make a better future, maybe, just maybe we could think of better things to do with our time than blow each other up.
